The best things to do in the Cotswolds this autumn

It’s getting to that time of year, the heating is being put on, our summer wardrobes are off to the loft for another six months, with chunky knits and wooly hats taking their place. It wouldn’t be such a sad process if we’d had a proper summer, but aside from a couple of weeks of warmth, it was a bit of a non-event. But fear not, it is not all doom and gloom. The season of Sunday Roasts, long walks, cosy evenings and fireside drinks are upon us. What’s more, it is arguably the best time of year to visit the Cotswolds. There is something special about this part of the UK in autumn, the rolling hills are adorned with golden hues, and the crisp air offers the perfect atmosphere for cosy yet invigorating outdoor adventures. The Cotswolds stone is at its best amongst the colours of autumn, and we definitely can’t wait to visit. If you’re planning a visit, here are some brilliant things to do this autumn, each paired with a charming nearby gem to make your stay extra special…
1. Broadway Tower & Shepherds Cottage
Located just a short drive from Shepherd’s Cottage in Broad Campden, Broadway Tower is a must-visit during autumn. As one of the highest points in the Cotswolds, the tower offers panoramic views over the changing landscape. This autumn, you can find afternoon tea & prosecco, seasonal craft courses, tours inside the tower and of course, fantastic circular walks where you may well be greeted by the local deer. After you visit, retreat to the comfort of Shepherd’s Cottage, a beautifully restored Cotswold stone property that offers luxurious amenities like a wood-burning stove and a peaceful private garden—perfect for unwinding after an eventful day.
