Hidden UK Gems: Pubs in the collection

The British Pub. A long standing stalwart in society. It is hard to get people to agree on which is the oldest pub in the UK, but it’s safe to say, they’ve been here, in some form, for over 1,000 years. One thing everyone can agree on is that they are an essential part of our communities. With approximately 45,000 pubs in the UK, they are thought to employ around 500,000 people. A place for people to meet, catch up or enjoy a quiet moment, these vital local meeting points are special focal points for community events, festivals, and often great charity fundraisers. With the rise of remote working, it is often said that a negative of this is many people don’t have a ‘second place’ anymore, with the lines between home and work life becoming ever more blurred. Having a local pub where you can meet up with friends and family, in a cosy corner in winter, or in the beer garden in the warmer months, can be essential for people’s wellbeing and provide the perfect place for socialising. We are lucky enough to have many amazing pubs in the UK, run by staff who truly care about protecting and providing these community spaces, who pour love and a lot of their lives into making them the best they can be. Here at Hidden UK Gems, we are proud of the pubs in our collection and want to shine a light on them today. So, without further ado, here’s a rundown of these fantastic establishments. Let’s raise a glass to them together!
