45 Queen Street, Penzance
45 Queen St, Penzance TR18 4BQ
A wine bar, small plates restaurant and neighbourhood hangout rolled into one. 45 Queen Street is where Penzance locals go when they want something special and welcoming all in one place.
Housed in a converted warehouse in the town’s old industrial quarter, this place is all exposed brick, candlelight, and perfectly mismatched furniture. It has that warm, unpretentious feel that only truly confident spots seem to pull off. You could come in walking boots or dressed for date night and feel equally at home.
The menu changes often, built around seasonal Cornish produce and inventive cooking. Think grilled mackerel with roasted beetroot, freshly baked focaccia, charred hispi cabbage, this a menu that stands out. Plates are small but generous, designed for sharing but good enough to hoard. There’s an ever evolving wine list, with plenty by the glass and a friendly team happy to make suggestions if you don’t know your natural from your orange.
Come early for a drink at the bar, or stay late and let the hours slip by between bites. The music is low, the service is spot on, and the whole place feels like it could be in East London, if it weren’t for the salty sea breeze outside.
Penzance is better for having this place. And once you’ve been, your future visits to Cornwall might just start with a reservation here.
