Bryngwyn Canol, Aberystwyth, Bow Street SY24 5AF

Six miles north of Aberystwyth and five from the Ynyslas National Nature Reserve, Bryngwyn Canol Cottages occupies Ceredigion countryside with three barn conversions that take the five-star rating seriously. Fully renovated in 2018, each cottage arrives with Welsh tree names: Derwen (oak), Onnen (ash), and Bedwen (birch), reflecting the habitat whilst maintaining individual style throughout luxury kitchens with granite worktops and bathrooms with underfloor heating.

The accommodation splits between Bedwen, a one-bedroom space perfect for couples with room for a travel cot, and the two-bedroom Derwen and Onnen, each sleeping four. All three feature covered hot tubs in fully enclosed gardens, modern kitchens with induction hobs and integrated appliances, Smart TVs, and slate floors that run throughout. The attention to detail extends beyond aesthetics, this is a place where it is clear to see time has been taken to deliberate on the finer points, that all come together to make your stay special.

Dogs receive proper consideration at Onnen and Bedwen, with the first staying free and extras charged at £25. There’s a heated dog wash facility with towels provided, dog welcome packs, lists of dog-friendly beaches and eateries, and dog bedding available. The owners understand muddy puddles are part of the experience. Equestrian guests can bring their horses too, with two stables, a paddock, parking for horseboxes and lorries, plus a small enclosed riding manège. Ynyslas beach sits five miles away for proper coastal riding.

The farmhouse forms part of the courtyard setting but cottages remain completely independent. There’s a shared laundry room with washing machines and tumble dryer, EV charging points, and filtered spring water throughout. The location delivers that increasingly difficult balance, genuinely peaceful countryside that’s less busy than Snowdonia, yet Aberystwyth sits six miles away and Borth’s three-mile beach requires similar distance.

Book all three, two or just the one, depending on your group size. Either way, you’re sure to have a special stay at Bryngwyn Canol Cottages, a true hidden gem.
