At Horton Bay car park on Gower Peninsula, where the five-mile sweep of golden sand meets clifftop views, Cart on the Coast is a converted blue horsebox serving Gower Coffee alongside bacon rolls, toasties, cakes, and ice cream. Cart on the Coast operates from a semi-permanent pitch overlooking one of Swansea’s most accessible beaches, providing caffeination and sustenance for dog walkers, surfers, families, and coastal path hikers who discover this friendly mobile operation positioned perfectly for pre-beach provisions or post-walk refreshment.

The setup delivers simplicity done well: quality barista coffee with proper choice of beans, decaf options, and all the milks. Food focuses on crowd-pleasers, bacon rolls that satisfy morning appetites, toasties for lunch, homemade cakes that are seriously lush, plus locally made small batch artisan pies & sausage rolls. Vegetarians find a large selection available, with Tir a Mor veggie quiche, and also a selection of vegan nut roasts. Service comes with the sort of genuine friendliness that prompts reviewers to mention stopping by “just for the coffee, cakes and friendship.” No wait times, no fuss, just efficient service from Jodi, who clearly knows her regulars.

The location is a big part of what makes Cart on the Coast special. Tables and seating allow lingering with the distant sound of sea providing the perfect soundtrack. The converted horsebox aesthetic, with coastal blue paint and awning extending over the serving hatch is both easy on the eye and efficiently functional. Horton Bay’s position makes it an ideal stopover en route to Mewslade or Rhossili beaches, with parking available both off-road and in nearby Monksland pub car park.

A sister shop operates at 11 Southgate Road (SA3 2BT) offering coffee, cake, deli items, pies, and ice cream for those preferring bricks-and-mortar browsing. But the horsebox at Horton Bay captures something specific: that mirage-like relief of finding excellent coffee and food exactly when needed, served by someone who genuinely enjoys the seaside location as much as her customers do.
