92 Floodgate St, Birmingham B5 5SR

The Grade II listed building on the corner of Floodgate Street & Little Anne Street in Birmingham’s vibrant Digbeth has been long standing since the 1700’s, taking on many forms throughout the years. Since 2017, it has been the home of The Ruin – a fantastic, independent bar, proudly at the forefront of the regeneration of this creative neighbourhood. The Ruin’s ‘shabby chic’ aesthetic takes inspiration from the ruin bars of Budapest, with unique and creative touches throughout.

The bar has a great selection of beers in their line up, and also offer a rotation of local craft beers from the likes of Birmingham Brewery, Burning Soul, and New Invention, as well as monthly showcases from national breweries, allowing you to discover something new with each visit. For Guinness lovers, you’re in safe hands, as here you’ll find one of the best in the area. For those looking to eat, the food is freshly prepared, well presented and reasonably priced, served throughout the week. You can enjoy their renowned roasts between 12-6pm each Sunday.

There are many different spaces for you to experience when you visit, each with their own unique charm. The back ‘computer room’ is as quirky as it is comfortable, perfect for dining or a catch up over a drink. As you make your way through the bar area, there is further seating, in the bright and inviting bar area. Outside, there is a courtyard space with seating, leading up to the most recent addition, which is a fantastic rooftop terrace, offering great views, and even greater vibes.

One of the things that makes this place such a gem is its versatility. If you are looking for somewhere for a relaxed date night, a Sunday Roast with family, a night out with friends, a solo drink with a good book or anything in between, you will always feel at home at The Ruin. Check it out for yourself, you won’t be disappointed!
