Meidrim Meadows, Carmarthenshire
Pandy, Carmarthen SA33 5PD
Hidden within a peaceful corner of the Carmarthenshire countryside, Meidrim Meadows offers the kind of escape that feels increasingly difficult to find. Set within a private meadow surrounded by rolling Welsh hills and mature trees, this secluded shepherd’s hut retreat has been carefully designed for those wanting to properly switch off, slow down and reconnect with nature without sacrificing comfort.
What makes Meidrim Meadows particularly special is the sense of complete privacy. There are no neighbouring guests, no crowded glamping site and no interruptions beyond birdsong, rustling trees and the sound of a distant stream. Spread across more than four acres of countryside, the setting feels wonderfully removed from everyday life.
Inside, the handcrafted shepherd’s hut balances rustic charm with thoughtful modern comforts. A king-size bed sits beneath a stargazing window, allowing guests to fall asleep beneath dark Welsh skies, whilst optional bunk beds make the space equally suited to couples or small family stays. A log burner and electric heating keep things cosy throughout the year, whilst the ensuite bathroom and compact kitchen ensure longer stays feel easy and comfortable rather than overly simplified.
Outside is where the experience really comes into its own. Guests have exclusive use of the meadow, with outdoor seating, a swing seat, egg chair and private firepit creating a space designed for long evenings outdoors. Mornings begin slowly with coffee overlooking the valley, whilst nights are best spent around the fire under some of West Wales’ clearest skies.
Owners Ellie and Ian created Meidrim Meadows from their own desire to find somewhere genuinely peaceful — a retreat immersed in nature that still felt warm, comfortable and thoughtfully designed. That intention runs through every part of the stay.
Although it would be easy never to leave the meadow, the location places guests within reach of some of the best landscapes in both Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire. Wild coastlines, castles, woodland walks and independent food spots all sit within driving distance, making it an excellent base for exploring West Wales at a slower pace.
Quiet, private and deeply restorative, Meidrim Meadows captures exactly what many people are searching for when they dream about escaping to the countryside.
