Kilmore Rd, Kilmore, Inverness IV63 6UH

After establishing Roslyn House as one of Tobermory’s most distinctive boutique stays, its owners have brought the same idea to a very different corner of Scotland. Roslyn House Loch Ness is the second property in the collection: an adults-only guest house in Drumnadrochit designed around independence, thoughtful details and a more relaxed way of staying in the Highlands.

The new house has 11 individually styled bedrooms, combining rich textures, soft lighting and elegant furnishings with the practical comforts you want after a day outdoors. As at its sister property on Mull, there is no traditional reception desk. Guests receive their own access codes ahead of arrival, making check-in seamless and leaving them free to come and go at their own pace.

That independence runs throughout the experience. Each morning, a breakfast hamper is prepared and left in your room, filled with continental favourites including pastries, granola, yoghurt, fresh fruit, Scottish cheeses, cured meats, smoked salmon and preserves alongside coffee, tea and juice. Eat slowly in your room, take it down to the guest lounge or pack something for the day’s adventures.

The lounge provides a communal space when you want one, complemented by an honesty bar stocked with local whiskies, spirits, wines and craft drinks. Private parking is available too – a useful addition in a part of Scotland best explored with the freedom of your own car.

And there is plenty to explore. Roslyn House sits in Drumnadrochit, just minutes from Loch Ness and around two miles from the ruins of Urquhart Castle. Woodland walks, waterfalls, Highland landscapes and boat trips are all within easy reach, while the village itself has restaurants, cafés and pubs close enough to reach on foot.

The connection to Roslyn House Tobermory is deliberate, but this isn’t intended as a carbon copy. Where the original makes a wonderfully characterful base for discovering Mull, Loch Ness opens the Roslyn experience to the Highlands – and, unlike its seasonal sister property, remains open through the winter too.

For travellers who like the individuality of a boutique hotel but would rather explore without timetables, reception desks or unnecessary formality, it is a smart new base for Loch Ness.
