Snowdonia Hideaway, Snowdonia
Eryri National Park (Snowdonia), Tynllwyn Hen, Bryn crug, Hideaway LL36 9RE
Tucked into a wild corner of Snowdonia National Park near Bryncrug, where patchwork fields meet mountain peaks and the Cambrian Coast stretches away towards the horizon, Snowdonia Hideaway occupies a family-run smallholding that takes remoteness seriously. You’ll need a decent vehicle to navigate the track, but once you arrive, the panoramic views of mountains, sea, and sunset make the journey feel entirely justified.
Two handcrafted spaces offer different takes on seclusion. Snowdonia Lodge, a converted barn sleeping up to three, delivers luxury without losing its agricultural soul. Ancient oak beams sit alongside a cherry wood farmhouse table, local art, and Welsh throws, whilst the super king bedroom makes for a wonderful nights sleep. There’s a fully equipped kitchen, log burner for atmospheric evenings, and an enclosed private garden with wood-fired hot tub. The Crogloft embodies cosiness with minimalism, a tiny converted hayloft for two with views to Cadair Idris. The double bed sits beneath exposed beams, whilst the kitchenette sits opposite, with shower room occupying a separate outdoor space. It’s compact but thoughtfully done, with its own enclosed garden, firepit, and hot tub.
Both properties embrace their protected dark sky zone location, where red kites circle by day and stars stud the night sky without competition from streetlights. The smallholding’s three acres welcome wildlife to hedgerows and wildflowers, whilst footpaths lead directly from the doorstep into proper walking country. Dolphins appear off the coast between June and August, swallows nest in the barn come summer, and the Talyllyn Railway’s request stop sits within the grounds for steam train trips to Dolgoch waterfalls.
Five local beaches, award-winning restaurants, historic castles, mountain biking trails, and Penygader mountain all sit within twenty minutes’ drive. The village pub is a twenty-minute walk for those evenings when cooking feels like too much effort, this is the perfect Snowdonia escape, and a true hidden gem.
