Websters, Salisbury
11 Hartington Rd, Salisbury SP2 7LG
Set on a quiet residential street around fifteen minutes’ walk from Salisbury Cathedral, Websters Bed & Breakfast offers a calm, well-run base for exploring the city and its surrounding landmarks. This is a family home turned guesthouse with intention, shaped by hosts who understand hospitality from the inside out.
Websters is run by Matt and Elizabeth, whose background includes two decades in the industry and a long European motorhome journey with their family. That experience shows in the way the house is run. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, without being intrusive, and everything feels considered rather than formulaic.
Accommodation is spread across five individually styled ensuite rooms. Two are generous king rooms, including one fitted with a super-king bed, alongside a superior twin and two cosy doubles. Rooms are kept immaculately, with daily housekeeping and small touches that quietly elevate the stay, from well-stocked hospitality trays to biscuits and sweets waiting on arrival. Ensuite bathrooms feature walk-in showers, quality toiletries and a sense that details haven’t been rushed.
Downstairs, a residents’ lounge provides space to unwind between days out, whether that’s planning the next morning’s walk or returning in the evening after supper in town. Free parking is a genuine bonus here, removing one of the usual frustrations of staying close to Salisbury’s centre.
Breakfast is a highlight. Guests begin with a buffet of fresh fruit, yoghurts, cereals, juices and toast, before choosing from a cooked-to-order menu. A full English sits alongside lighter options such as pancakes with maple syrup and blueberries, vegetarian dishes, and smoked salmon with scrambled eggs. Everything is prepared fresh and served at the table, with tea or coffee offered alongside, to set you up perfectly for a day of exploring this wonderful city.
From Websters, Salisbury Cathedral is easily reached on foot, its soaring spire and historic Magna Carta well worth lingering over. Stonehenge lies a short drive away, as do Old Sarum and Wilton House, while the city’s independent shops, pubs and restaurants are close enough to enjoy without relying on the car. It’s a stay defined by ease, comfort and being genuinely well looked after.
